An autobiographical monologue based on Josh’s experiences studying dementia at the University of California, San Francisco while, at the same time, his stepfather was suffering from Alzheimer’s and newly elected President Donald Trump was leading the country into what Josh came to see as a kind of political dementia. A key finding by neuroscientists treating patients with Frontotemporal Dementia — the discovery of an “empathy circuit” in the brain-inspired, in Josh, a hopeful concept: the possibility of linking individuals’ empathy circuits into a collective one, perhaps even sparking a revolution of empathy.
JOSH KORNBLUTH has been creating and performing autobiographical monologues for over 30 years. His show Red Diaper Baby was a hit Off-Broadway and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. He has written and starred in feature films and hosted his own TV show on KQED. You can find him at joshkornbluth.com.
